the World's Most
Iconic Monument

Makrana, in Rajasthan's Nagaur district, has been quarried for over 2,000 years. Its pure white dolomitic marble — known for exceptional luminosity and very low iron content — was selected by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan for the construction of the Taj Mahal in the 17th century. Today, the same Makrana belt continues to produce marble prized by architects and designers worldwide.

Why Makrana Marble Stands Apart
Makrana marble contains very low Fe₂O₃ content, which prevents the yellowing seen in other white marbles over time. Its density and water absorption characteristics make it highly durable for both interior and exterior applications — a key reason it has survived centuries in the Taj Mahal's exposed exterior.
